Supporting your body’s natural ability to breathe & function.
I take a natural approach to improving oral function, breathing, and sleep- addressing concerns like mouth breathing, tongue posture, and pre- and post-frenectomy care.
My goal is to help you retrain your muscles and restore healthy function, just as nature intended.
Key areas of myofunctional therapy
-
Tongue tie
A restricted tongue can impact breathing, swallowing, speech, and overall oral function. Myofunctional therapy helps improve tongue mobility, strength, and coordination for optimal function.
-
Mouth breathing
Mouth breathing can affect oxygen intake, facial development, and is linked to poor sleep and many chronic diseases. Myofunctional therapy helps promote nasal breathing for improved systemic health and overall well-being.
-
Snoring/ sleep apnea
Poor oral muscle tone can contribute to airway collapse during sleep. Strengthening these muscles may reduce snoring and improve sleep quality.
-
Tongue thrust
An improper swallowing pattern can impact digestion, dental alignment, and speech. Myofunctional therapy helps correct swallowing mechanics and promote better overall function.

Hi, it’s great to meet you!
My name is Rochelle, and I’m a dental hygienist and myofunctional therapist. I’ve seen firsthand how mouth breathing, tongue posture, and swallowing patterns impact overall health. I take a natural, whole body approach to improving oral function, helping my clients restore balance and thrive.
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy is a specialized therapy that focuses on helping the muscles of the face, mouth, and tongue function properly. Similar to physical therapy- but for the oral and facial muscles- it uses a series of stretches and exercises to reactivate, strengthen, and retrain these muscles in order to treat orofacial myofunctional disorders.
-
Myofunctional therapy is needed when Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) are present.
OMDs occur when the muscles of the face and mouth don’t function properly, which can affect chewing, swallowing, speech, and even facial development. Often, these issues stem from improper breathing habits, which cause the muscles to adapt in ways that create further problems.
Myofunctional therapy helps retrain and strengthen these muscles to restore proper function, ensuring that breathing, chewing, and swallowing all work together.

Myofunctional therapy is needed when Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) are present. Therapy can help people with a variety of orofacial concerns, including:
Mouth breathing
Tongue thrust/improper swallow
Low or forward tongue posture
Tongue tie
Oral habit elimination
Orthodontic support
Craniofacial growth and development
Snoring/ sleep apnea
TMJD
-
Promote exclusive nasal breathing
Strengthen and tone the muscles of the tongue, lips, and orofacial complex
Encourage ideal oral resting posture
Support in optimal chewing, swallowing habits, and body posture

All sessions are done virtually through a HIPAA compliant platform. You’ll receive a supply kit to use during therapy, and occasionally you will need simple household items nearby—like a glass of water or specific foods. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera (phone, tablet, or computer all work great).
Wondering if therapy could help you?
Many people struggle with symptoms of oral dysfunction without realizing it. Issues like mouth breathing, snoring, clenching, or poor sleep can often be linked to muscle dysfunction in the face, tongue, and airway.
Our screening tool offers a simple way to identify potential symptoms and determine whether myofunctional therapy may be beneficial.
